Jatin known for his sensational evening wear displayed “Glisten- Shine by Reflection” another Red Carpet look that will make an impact during the coming season.
Nitya Bajaj showcased ‘Fantasia’ a collection which sprung from fairytales and fantasies, the likes of which included fairies, nymphs, pixies and princesses. This was seen by her collection of princess like gowns, which were fitted at the top and would gradually fade into delicate flares.
The collection for Garo, by Priyangshu Maji pulsated sensuality mixed with a sense of strong Indian traditional culture in his recent collection. The label, which is known for its Indian wear, showcased a collection inspired by Chinese pilgrim clothing, mixed with traditional Indian outfits for cross cultural influences.
On the final day of the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 season, Umang Huttesing, President of the Huttesing Design Company and promoter of Indian textiles and crafts around the world; presented a very informative and interesting talk on the subject, “Celebrating Indian Textile Heritage from Indus Valley to present Day”.
Kapil and Mmonika took the audience visually to exotic islands as their spring/summer collection was a mix between ‘contemporary party wear’ and ‘tropical holiday. The pieces were a range of tailcoats, jackets, Kaftan dresses, skirts, sheer blouses, tunics, tops, mini capes, boleros, gowns, jumpsuits and wide leg trousers.
Priyal Prakash’s collection “Linea” was all about going back to basics and forayed into the evolution of garments through structured lines. The collection aimed at being a conceptual contemporary mix between Western and Indian clothing, with the basic idea of using straight and angular lines to draw out silhouettes for both styles.
Inspired by the distant future, the greed of mankind and the humanity of nature, Abhishek Dutta presented a collection titled “Epidemic” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 for men and women.
Inspired by the colours of Rajasthan and the vibrant swaying of the Kathputli dolls Archana Kochhar’s “Kathputli Kathak” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012 was a mélange of colour and style. It was a blend of Indian silhouettes with a contemporary touch as diaphanous kurtas and kameezes in light weight fabrics swirled down the ramp.
Mineral, the label created by Priyadarshini Rao was a perfect Summer/Resort 2012 offering at Lakmé Fashion Week. With an emphasis on pretty prints, colours, easy styling and several mix and match options; the collection was ideal for holiday at resorts, mountains or beaches.
